Structural Properties of Commercial Australian Plantation Hardwood CLT

چکیده
Significant volumes of plantation hardwood are available in Australia to produce value-added engineered wood products such as cross-laminated timber (CLT). To validate the possibility utilising this resource, bending structural properties Eucalyptus nitens solid board and finger-jointed feedstock were measured. The studied CLT panels produced from lamellas subjected strength, stiffness, rolling shear strength bending, pure tests obtain characteristic design values. Solid test results suggested that boards used longitudinal have a 36.0 MPa modulus elasticity (MOE) 13,000 MPa. Finger-jointed crossed presented declared 25.0 showed 24.0 2.0 experimental for evidenced stiffness matches up very well with modelled when an MOE is describe boards. study establish basis commercial use Australian applications floors roofs residential buildings.

WOOD PLANING PROPERTIES OF AUSTRALIAN PLANTATION-GROWN Eucalypts
Planing properties of seven Australian plantation-grown eucalypts were evaluated to provide recommendations on how these species should be machined and considered for the manufacture of high quality furniture and furnishings. The surface quality produced for each species was evaluated using eight planing conditions. All species performed well producing equivalent or better results than mature t...

متن کاملA Technique for Predicting Clear-wood Production in Hardwood Stems: a Model for Evaluating Hardwood Plantation Development and Management
—Th e management of artifi cial hardwood stands suff ers from a paucity of information. As a result, many managers and scientists turn to conventional pine plantation management as a source for informing silvicultural decisions. Such an approach when managing hardwoods ignores the development occurring in natural hardwood stands, which produce stems prized for their growth and form. Contrary to...
متن کاملEffect of mulch on nitrogen cycling in a hardwood plantation of subtropical Australia
We investigated the effect of mulch on N cycling in a hardwood plantation of subtropical Australia by examining monthly in situ net N mineralization for 12 months and natural N abundance (δN) of soil and plants. Monthly net N mineralization ranged from –23.0 μg g soil (net immobilization) to 52.6 μg g soil across 12 sampling months and across both mulch and nonmulch treatments. There was a sign...
